Tipping the Valet

Huh? They don't know how much you are going to tip until they bring the car!
Lots of places like Atlantis in Reno and Foxwoods now have computerized systems so you're car gets there just as soon as mine-regardless of tip.
I've always been treated politely with my 2 buck tips. I think they get pissed off more by those who just stiff them, which I have never done.
Hey, to each their own, but you'll see me ordering black coffee or a Shirley Temple (and believe me-that AIN'T happening) before they get more than a deuce from me.

$2 tip is going to get you a long wait at a busy joint.

Funny you say that...because Atlantis in Reno is one of the WORST valet's I've been to! Now, I don't have a fancy car, but I consistently tip a buck, and they look at me like I'm trash...FWIW, a good tip for anyone making less than six figures is to get a better job.

Yeah, the 90% of us who make under 6 figures are real stupid for not thinking of that.
Brilliant comment in this economy. Sort of like going to a cancer ward and screaming at people to not get cancer.

FWIW, a good tip for anyone making less than six figures is to get a better job.

I was wondering when someone else was going to post about not making a 6 figure salary. Typical comment coming from someone who owns a corvette.

Looking at wikipedia, how many of us actually own one of these? LOL.

"A corvette is a small, maneuverable, lightly armed warship ..."

If your tip gets attitude, then you are tipping TOO MUCH.

I have worked for tips and NEVER once did I give someone who
CHOSE TO GIVE ME MONEY an attitude because he failed to meet
my (totally arbitrary and irrelevant) notions about what is a
proper tip. And for that matter, I never gave them attitude
for failing to tip in a situation where the norm is to do so.

Everyone has different levels they choose to tip and its THEIR MONEY. Once a dealer/waiter/valet/etc learns to simply do
his or her job as best s/he can and stop sweating the perceived
slights, s/he will be happier AND get better tips as a direct
result of the improved customer service.

As for the "tip" comment. I, for one, agree with the sentiment.
Things in this economy are tough and some folks are stuck in semi-permanent unemployment limbo, but this comment is directed towards those who HAVE A JOB, that pays fairly well, and yet still manage to feel like they are ENTITLED to more (via additional tips).
If you can do better, then do it. If you can't, be happy you
have the best job you can have in this economy. But either way,
don't act like anybody OWES you a thing. They don't.
