Tipping the Valet

One thing that surprises me is that no one mentioned the driving that the valet parkers do. Not all of them of course, but many times I have seen them flying through the garages and doing short burnouts on the tires. Of course it is when they are out of public sight.

But not out of earshot.

you are spot on here. For a realistic picture of car jockeys, watch the movie "Ferris Buelers day off "

PS - I beat all you guys by giving Valets $6 - but it has to come with the names of 10 discount strippers

Also are you aware that if a valet damages your car, the casino can not be held responsible (that is on the ticket) and most insurance companies will not pay because the rental agreement specifies whom can operate the vehicle and in the agreements I have looked at do not include valet.

I remember an incident many years ago at The Barbary Coast. We were visiting and using a relatives new Oldsmobile 98. We were picking up the car at Valet and I could hear tires squealing, engines revving etc. As I handed the attendant the ticket I said, "Hey, this is NOT a rental. If I hear one tire squeal you get no tip." Boy that car came down the ramp just as smooth a slow as can be. I know they're pressured to move and time is money but a little care is nice too. Oh yeah, he got a couple extra bucks from me.

Of course they can be held responsible. Just because something is printed doesn't make it true.

Amen.

I always chuckle when I see the large dump trucks hauling gravel or whatnot down the highway with signs that say "Not Responsible For Damage Caused By Flying Debris". Of course they are. Those signs (and tickets) save them thousands and thousands of dollars though, because a healthy percentage of people see them and think they're accurate.
