Harrahs took $5.6 MILLION out of the prize pool for expenses and dealer
tokes.

So it was a mandatory toke .. well better than last year when it was
voluntary and they got stiffed.

It has been mandatory for at least four years. Some dealers were whining
they didn't get even more. They got little sympathy.

I'm catching up on my reading, so I apologize if this was already
covered...

The dealers DID NOT get stiffed last year. Any dealer that claims
they did is being insincere and greedy. The system used was the same
as this year where the tip was mandatory. The prize pool was
decreased by a significant margin (I thought 1%) to cover dealer
tokes. Some players chose to give extra, but that's pure generosity
on their part...it is not a case where those that chose not to give
extra were cheap.

Based on my estimate of the number of table hours and the amount of
money removed from the prize pool for tips, the dealers received
something like $25 per hour of dealing time. I don't think the
players should have felt like they needed to give anything more than this.
