tipping question

<<Would I have been cheap at only 400-500 on a 20K payout? Any
thoughts from those of you who deal with this regularly? I would be
curious how you handle 20K+ payouts at your home casino with familar
staff as opposed to a different casino where you know no staff, nor
were you treated special.>>>>

I play a fair amount of $5 video poker. I generally tip $100 on a $20,000 royal out of guilt and I think it is the least amount I can get away with without "attitude". For staff I don't know, I think it is too much, but that is what I do. You can ofter get "a feel" for what they are expecting by how they break down the jackpot. ( I have never got any $20's in a $20K handpay. I know some of this is casino policy.) I used to go with a 1% rule for jackpot tipping when coins were in use. With TITO, I find there are fewer casino employees who do nothing for me except pay jackpots, so I am leaning more toward a 0.5% rule for jackpot tipping.

I agree with vegasvpplayer..I used to follow the 1% rule, with a $100
maximum. But lately, I've gone down to around the .5% - .8%
range...unless the employee paying (or the supervisor overseeing the
payoff) was someone I had a history with...then I'll go back to the 1%.

Talk about BIG tipper...

A couple of weeks ago, someone joined the Wynn's Ferrari Give-Away
Promo and told the casino that IF he wins the car, he's donating it to
some charity.

Well...he didn't win the car but, they announced that night at the
party that s/he still donated a lot of money (20K or more) to the
charity.

I'd tip my hat off to him, if I had a hat.
