Tipping in Casino Restaurants

Babe--you sound just like my hubby-- he does the same
thing for the same reasons. In fact, we have both seen
people take tip money off of empty tables. What kills me
is when the husband leaves a tip and then the wife lingers
behind and takes part of it before leaving the table.

I think that I may know why your friend is unwilling to leave a
gratuity on the table, in casino restaurants. If he does this in
other restaurants, as well, I have no clue as to his motive.

If I am in a casino coffee shop, buffet or lower priced eating
establishment, I also always hand the gratuity directly to the server,
rather than just leaving it on table. I will even wait for the server
to return, rather then just leaving money on the table. Of course this
would not apply when dining in the gourmet room of a casino.

My reason for doing this, is because I am concerned that some down on
his luck gambler, might snatch it off table, in hopes of making that
one last winning bet to put him on the come-back trail. Although my
assumption may fallacious, even paranoic, I feel better when I give
the tip directly to the service person who earned it. I'm also
assured then, that the wait person knows that I did not stiff them.
