If you want to give a host a gift, a good idea is a gift certificate. Unlike
cash it is almost always acceptable. I used my Palms points to get gift
certificates for the Palms AMP Salon, thinking that a host I wanted to give a gift
to would be able to use it for hair cut or nails, etc., and when I gave it to
her she loved it. You could also think of gift certificates for things like
Home Depot, Macy's, Sharper Image, and many other such places. Another idea
is a gift certificate for Omaha Steaks - everyone loves that (except
vegetarians) and they do have seafood.
Another thought is to bring a gift from the city where you live that can't be
found in Vegas. For example Salmon from Seattle, Chili Sauce from Texas, New
York Cheesecake, or other specialty items from your local city.
Hosts commonly get perfume (women) and ties (men) as well as wine or booze,
so a little original thought may be appreciated.
You do not need to give hosts gifts, and often they won't get any special
service in return. But sometimes a gift can make a host remember you and give
you better service. And sometimes you may get extra special service from a host
and want to thank her/him.
