Tipping cocktail waitresses...

just because you tip more than a dollar doesn't mean that there aren't
others tipping a quarter or nothing at all.

I know that. I see the ladies who order a coke and a water and dole out 25
cents. And I've worked for tips so I know the frustration of those sorts of
tippers. But I'm assuming (maybe wrongly) that the players at the Strip
casinos tip better than those I see at the locals' casinos.

I play at a locals casino almost daily so I have gotten to know many
of the cocktail waitresses. They work hard for their money and on more
than one occassion they'd remark that the area they were assigned to
was "nickel hell". For example, they said they collected .95 cents in
tips for a tray with fifteen drinks/beers on it. Some don't tip,
others tip a nickel or two. That is pretty stingy in my book!
