Tip Question

Greetings

When you hit a 1000 dollar jackpot and are hand paid with 9 Benjies and 5 twenties is that because the attendant is expecting you to tip them twenty dollars?

I would say definitely yes. I have only hit one royal but I kept all
the 20s

I always keep a $5 tip handy for the possibility( .25 $1000 royals)

Of course it is. In the "old days" when machines actually dispensed coins, I would typically tip $10 on a $1000 hand pay. Now with TITO machines, there is absolutely no reason for the machine to lock up on a $1000 hit, other than as an artificial way to generate more tip income for the slot attendants, and possibly as a method to create more apparent "jackpots" for the tourists walking by to see. Perhaps if we all refuse to tip for these $1000 hand pays we can nip this goofy trend in the bud.

Yes, that is exactly what they are expecting. If you want to be REALLY nice, you
MIGHT tip them $5 on a $1000.

I, not being THAT nice, will NOT tip an attendant ANYTHING if they bring me a
broken-down Benjie, unless they asked if I wanted all large and I said NO.

If they brought all Benjies for my handpay, I typically DO tip $5. Fortunately,
the casinos where I usually play don't handpay any more, unless it is a W2G, so
my tip would be $5 on $1200, and $10-20 on a $4K.

But the attendant feels that you will be intimidated by the twenties, and feel
cheap if you don't tip them. My advice: don't fall for it. Should they say
something, tell them if they'd brought all Benjies, you would have tipped them.
Send them the message. A host once told me that they should NOT be bringing
handpays broken down that way, that the casino was against the practice.

i'm pretty thrifty . if they go above and beyond the call of duty then i'll tip up to $5. even for my latest $10K hit.

for me they have to offer a picture, freebies, and more for to merit a tip

$5 for a $10,000 score isn't thrifty, its more insulting. You are better off not giving anything.

Call me strange but I've never understood the whole "tipping" thing in the casino. It's not as if anyone pays you for losing. Even when I was manager of a keno lounge downtown I would refuse tips FTP
Players of all they did were tipping me on doing my job of writing them a ticket. If I went above and beyond for them and negotiated comps or whatever then I would accept because I was going outside of my base job description. The only time I EVER accepted a tip for writing a ticket was when I wrote my own ticket out had it sitting next to the writing machine (by accident) a customer saw it wanted to play those numbers and hit 8 out of 9. He said he would have never won without me so I accepted because it was partly true.

Anyway comming from someone who used to be a part of the service industry I don't believe people should be rewarded handsomely for just merely doing their job or paid more because you won 10k instea of 1k. I also don't believe a server should be tipped more just because an entree cost more. If I get great service at Denny's and tip 20 percent or crap service at say Bobby Flay's and tip 10 percet. Is that person REALLY wothy of more money just because the total bill is more? It just kills me the sense of entitlement to tips in this town even if service is poor
