Tip on a Royal?

I apologize if this topic has been posted before; my wife and I are
fairly new to video poker (and the vpfree group). We've settled on $1
9/6 JoB, typically at the LV Hilton, and today were discussing what
would be an appropriate tip to the person bringing the payoff on the
ever-elusive Royal. My inclination was $200, which is a mere 5%,
whereas she said she'd feel comfortable giving the person $40, which to
me seems a bit low.

I realize this is very subjective, but what do you feel is an
appropriate tip on a $4000 hand-pay?

It is very personal. I am very :frugal" and think $20 is about right. But, this should open up a
lot of discussion. Usually does, anyway. LOL

i tipped $100 each to the W-2G dude and the hundo smacker chick on my last royal for $200 total----but I was up the whole trip, if I was down I might give em $20 each---but I would definitely say something like "doesn't even get me back close to even but at least now I can pay most of my marker". no right answer depends on how things are going.

We tip on royals usually from .5% to 1%, depending on several factors, including whether we are regulars at that casino.

There is a chart about tipping at http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/tipping.cfm. This emphasizes that tipping is a very personal choice and there is a wide range here. If you want a thorough discussion, I have a whole chapter on tipping in "More Frugal Gambling."

Sometimes I tip, but usually I don't tip anything, unless the change person
helped me find a specific machine I was looking for - or, they provided some
kind of customer service (other than just bringing the cash to me).

Depending on the casino, some slot people will try to intimidate customers
into tipping after a hand-pay. Sometimes it's subtle; sometimes it's
blatant. Either way, I don't let them get away with it. I will purposely
not tip, if they pull that crap.

I tend to agree,If I hit a $1.00 royal and I just get standard handpay service with no extra
chatter I usually pay $20.00 to the cash attendant who pays me. If on the other hand the
attendant has been good to me BEFORE I hit (i.e.like staying by my machine when I need
to go to the bathroom, flagging a cocktail waitress for me when there isn't one
around...etc) I will tip up to $100.00 ($60.00 on a .50c royal). However if the attendant is
blatantly fishing for a tip after I win with no previous service or inter-reaction beforehand,
I ignore them and maybe give them $5.00 or nothing if they are truly obnoxious as I hate
being solicited.
