The maximum amount a TITO redempion machine will accept is subject, it
would seem, to two considerations. The first has to do with CTR
reporting requirments. Someone mentioned, and I think it's correct,
that any cash transaction of $3000 or more requires collecting
information that will be needed to file a CTR, should total
transactions aggregate to $10,000 or more in a 24-hr period. So no
casino redemption machine should accept a TITO ticket over $2999.
The second constraint (and here I speculate) is that the casino may
wish to refill the redemption machines with cash less often. Better
to cash a $2000 ticket at the cage than have it empty the machine and
have to manually cash a bunch of small tickets, which are of course
more numerous. Thus we have the below-mentioned variety of casino
limits on machine redemption.
Gambling machines themselves spitting out a ticket rather than allow
credits to go over $1200 is a separate issue. But this is common
enough that I suspect it may be the factory default setting in many
cases. It can be overriden, however. One local joint has 4 adjacent
5c/10c 10 plays. One spits tickets at $1200, a second at $400, and
the other two at $200!

The Palms has theirs set at an $800 maximum. A supervisor told me it
is a
Gaming rule. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?
