Those Penny Slots Got to Go

We were there the weekend before last and saw two good shows. After the shows, we couldn't get on any of the VP machines as it seemed that lots of people were playing penny and nickel slots. Now, I have nothing against penny and nickel slots, just put them on the freaken slot machines and leave the VP alone. I sent the note below to my host. So far, no answer. I also sent her a note to book a room and show for this Friday which she also hasn't answered. I wonder if they are related.

Hi Laura,
I wanted to send you a few comments regarding our recent stays at MS.

Robin and I really enjoy MS. We feel that MS is a first class hotel / Casino comparable to the finest Casinos in Las Vegas or internationally. The shows are great, rooms very nice and comfortable and the restaurants are good.

Recently, we have become increasingly frustrated with the inability to find a free
Video Poker machine. This past weekend my wife did not play and went up to the room after the show because there were no free VP machines. The main cause of the problem is the addition of penny and nickel slots to all the VP machines. I am not aware of any other gambling venue, Las Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, Mississippi, The Bahamas or numerous other locations we have visited where I have to compete with penny and nickel slot players to get a machine. What amazes me about this is that there appears to be hundreds if not thousands of slots machines that are not being played. I have spoken to numerous other VP players who feel the same and have reduced their play at MS because of this problem. We have friends in NY that refuse to meet us at MS because of this problem. If we want to meet them, we need to go to AC. In their opinion, AC has nice hotels, restaurants and shows with plenty of VP and cash back. I'm hoping that MS will reverse the decision that added penny slots to the VP machine or add more VP to their inventory. If the trend of not being able to find a machine continues, we will unfortunately be taking more trips to AC, Vegas, Tahoe and Mississippi.

--- Hi Joel
I have had the same conversation with several suits about 2 months
ago about the same issue. Their response was that the penny slots
are one of their most profitable games and they have no intention of
changing that. My host told me that many people who are playing the
pennines wind up playing about $1 per hand and the house advantage
is really big. That is the reason that the VP bartops have a high
theo. They are designated penny slots in there calculations.
