The problem is I dont think they care about video poker players.
This topic needs a title
I think it is more than just indifference. They have actively targeted VP players, and have cut their options continually for the last couple of years. From cutting the theo, to raising the points, to eliminating points on certain machines, to now taking out the machines entirely.
We stopped in on Thursday to shop with some points and take advantage of a food credit. Not only was the place deserted, but they had disabled all the nickel machines in the room in front of the old poker room (which used to be 90% VP, and now has maybe a dozen poor machines). I don't know what they were doing, except that had new Bally's boxes next to each machine. Whether those were new VP innards, or some other type of slot, I didn't stick around to find out. But if they are even taking away the nickel plays, with the most horrible paytables, it is just the next step in the war against VP players. You can't tell me that they weren't making money on those machines.
Certainly the game is rigged. Don’t let that stop you; if you don’t bet, you can’t win. -Lazarus Long
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is. -Yogi Berra
There is no such thing as luck. There is only adequate or inadequate preparation to cope with a statistical universe. -Robert Heinlein

The problem is that they feel fp vp is not profitable to them and they will not change it. I believe it is the harrah's influence. Between points, giveaways and fsp they were not making money off of us and I agree but we are just a minority of the vp players.

I don't think they have actively targeted VP players as a group, but rather simply increased their overal hold on VP games (including comp, points, etc). That's an important distinction.
[Indeed, if you look around the casino, I think you would find more $0.01, $0.02 (yup!), $0.05 and $0.10 VP games (with gawd aweful paytables). You would also find a substantial increse of otherwise playable high-limit games (like 10-25 coin $5 9/6 Jacks)-- with no points. What a shame! Not worth it to inventory in detail.]
Of course, they have targeted individual players who seem (to MS) to be costing them too much money. I'm one of those players. Even though I lost last year, supposedly, I cost MS more then $40K. That's what they told me anyway. Must have been all the shrimp I ate. The result of this is that I have been unable to get a comped room in months and quite frankly I have been treated like crap by them too.

Profitability is the key. My wife and I only played on one card when we went. Because I play a higher level I had lots of w2gs on her card and had a profit for the year while she had a loss. Guess who kept their sachem card? I was told by my ex-host that it was because she had the loss. FSP sucks as well as giveaways. A freaking snow shovel as opposed to laptops and flat screens. Interestingly my wife was there with girlfriends this weekend and was told by a pit boss who was friends with one of the girls that intelligent vp players are piraahs.

Are piraahs higher or lower than "whale sh..t"?. That's how both Ct. casinos view VP players. Foxwoods just informed me that I and my wife are no longer going to receive any marketing or comp offers, i.e free room, slot play, etc. Monkey see, Monkey do.

Wow! So what were you playing at FW? FWIW, your's is the first report I've heard about FW doing this... I hope that it's not going to be the norm. I play a wee little JoB there... to give me another route to comps for when I'm there to play live poker... I hope that situation doesn't go away....

hmm.. ok not quite the reply I was hoping for...
so, I've been singled out and lost my comps, privelages, etc only for 3 reasons...
1) taking (proper) advantage of a promotion
2) Winning
3) Playing only a certain machine/game
All the other times, it was much more of a wholesale situation, so to speak, like at Mohegan. Yup, I got one of those letters.. and so did many other folks.
I do realize I'm simplifying things... of course. The real distinction is a situation/rule change like at MS (which catches, presumably, multiple people) -versus- a certain behavior that triggers the casino's response (perhaps after a rule change)
Now with FW's, Is there a trigger (so it seems people are singled-out) or a situation/rule-change (wholesale)?
If it is a trigger, it might be avoidable...?

Do you mean the letter of last summer about no points on most machines? Or is this something new?

yes, I was referring to that letter...
and yes, I'm hoping for some additional info about FW following MS's play, and no longer comping people...??
