As far as I'm concerned, once I've won it, it's "my money", and if
I'm not willing to play for higher stakes before winning it, I
certainly won't after.
I totolly agree! However, a number of friends think that once they have the casino's money in their pocket, they start betting BIG, i.e. $1 VP.
It seems to be working, but I'm like you and think that it's not often I do have their money in my pocket and I will be darned to give it back to them without a fight! I sometimes wonder if I would be much farther ahead if I could break this mind-set.

Typical "conservative" strategy is to bet low and increase the bet after
you've made substantial gains, giving yourself a "loss limit," at which
point you quit. It's common money management strategy, and it also increases
the comfort level of a player. Of course it's your money, but if you are
playing anyway, it's better to do it with money you've won than with the
kid's braces.

Not to be nit-picky, but your previous post attributes the above quote to
me. What I wrote is a reply to the above. I guess it's a mechanical thing
with many email programs to attribute an entire post, however many quotes
from various people it contains, to the last person who posted on that
subject.
I've noticed that this happens a lot, and I'd like to suggest that when
people post replies to previous messages, they make sure the person being
quoted is actually the one who made the comment. It's not a big deal in
this case, but sometimes it can be. Thanks.

Why do you say there's no difference? If you bet more you stand to win more.
Yes, you also stand to lose more, and that's why the strategy says get well
ahead first, then press up. And set a loss limit on each session. The
question isn't so much whether or not to press up, it's really how do you
get well ahead at the lower level in the first place.

You might be at a loss at the end of several sessions, and finally
either recoup or jump ahead at the end of a particular session. Your
winnings at that point need to be considered in light of your life-time
play, as far as I'm concerned.But you're right. You don't need to be playing with the money you need
for other things, whether it's for braces or for your rent.Cheers.

Forget everything about how much you won or lost recently. When you
decide what to play, use a combination of your advantage and your bankroll
( current, future, and psychological ) to decide. If you are playing within
your bankroll, this decision will not change because you manage to hit a
royal
or 2.
There are some excellent reasons to 'take a shot' at a higher
denomination game, but doing so simply because you are on a winning
streak is not one of them.

guy at the craps table who accidentally spit his dentures out onto the craps
table? A pit boss took out his own dentures, tossed them on the table, and
shouted "You're faded!"

Psychotic is good, at least it can be treated. That is probably the
funniest gambling story I've ever heard. Great incidents like that one
don't happen anymore. Those kinds of characters are long gone.
