The vpREE(2) Database/Colorado Belle/News

Bluestreak, welcome back to the group. You were missed. We haven't been to Laughlin in a long while but I still enjoy reading this group's messages.

I think you were on computer hiatus when the changeover from the old vpFREE database to the new vpFREE2.com was announced last year. The original vpFREE administrator stepped aside and some new people are running the vpFREE2 database. But the vpFREE admin. is still the administrator of the forums. His only involvement in vpFREE2 is to serve as a casino monitor for some casinos, which I also do.

I also saw the new "News" feature on vpFREE2 a few days ago. It looks like it's supposed to be a list of links to recent news articles about each casino. Doesn't seem to be working too well since most of the news articles are not about the casino.

I submitted some positive feedback about this by using the "Contact Us" link found at the bottom of each of the vpFREE2 pages.

Well I signed-up over there (couldn't
be too far away) and went looking for the first time
today. What a nice looking set-up. I checked out
a couple of casinos and clicked all the buttons.

But what is the "News" section supposed to be? On the
CB link it seems to be some automatic Google-like
feed. It was Googly-Glop info for CB/News, some in a
foreign language centered around a keyword "belle".

My old (new) computer traversed fairly easily around the
vpFREE2 site. Please keep it dumbed-down. As an
example I can't traverse the CB webpage. It wants to
show me a movie and never completely downloads the home
page. I guess 523,000 elementary moves per second is
just not fast enough anymore.

Thanks for the welcome back Ms. vpFREE3. I didn't know that "SHMBO" payed attention to us way down here on the river. You say you have not been down here in awhile, well I have not been up there in awhile.

My last visit to LV and a comped room was at Main Street Station for the 2006 Labor Day Weekend "Jackpot Winners" special invite. I miss MSS and downtown. MSS was very kind to me with a couple of quarter royals on the Boar bar bartops and 5 quad Ducks on the uprights. I probably have less than $50k coin-in lifetime, and $6k of that was a $40 potshot on the $1 Treasure Chests (which really got my mail going).

But the new by-pass bridge over the river is supposed to be done in a few weeks. It was scheduled originally to be completed by the end of 2007. At least that what was on the orange sign coming out of Kingman said. Throw in the fact that the Pinball Hall of Fame has a larger space now, I might have to at least do a circle drive daytrip.

As for the new database it looks good. I see all the Laughlin casinos have monitors, glad others have stepped up. Thanks others. I will start sending in updates again. I am glad the old comments did not get flushed. It really is a historical lesson, a blast from the past.

Take Care,

Bluestreak
