"The Video Poker Edge"/Self Promotion

in keeping vpFREE polite and civil than you (or anyone
else) are/is, and is committed to providing a non-disruptive
environment for discussing and exchanging information
about video poker.

I'm very serious about enforcing politeness and civility,
and while violations may continue to happen, I'm
confident that we're going to see less of them.

an assistant administrator all the time, see Jean Scott trying
way too hard to show everyone how good a person she is (just
do your good deeds and be quiet!) and when she's wrong about
something, so show how close she was to being right, see Bob
Dancer unveiled as an unabashed, unfettered egomaniac, and
then see people such as these being verbally fellated over and
over again, it gets quite annoying. THEN, when i see somone
quite rightfully state that some of the postings of one of
these sacred cows might get 'tiresome,' someone asks him why
he bothers posting about it if it bothers him so much.

So imagine if I bothered to post all these opinions, which I
truly hold and am not just offering for the sake of being
argumentative? Imagine the flame wars. And sooner or later,
the admin would "offer" me a two-week vacation from posting
anyway, because I have no doubt i would do SOMETHING to offend
him. So, since I don't get to Nevada much anyway, I just read
and lurk. >>>

So, we're missing out on your opinions about how things should
be run, and your assessments of some of the members. Our loss.

FWIW, I'm no longer offering vacations. Instead, members who
violate the posting rules are being moderated. Any attempted post
by a moderated member is rejected if it violates the rules - the
member can them re-send something that doesn't violate the rules
or post it "as is" on FREEvpFREE if they like.

We have a lot of members who don't get to Nevada very much who
are valuable, contributing members - on the main forum and on
regional forums. vpFREE discussions and the DataBase cover all
areas of the USA. But, AFAIK you have never posted anything
about video poker on vpFREE or FREEvpFREE, choosing instead
to criticize and complain about administrative practices.

IMO, vpFREE isn't for you, since you are apparently looking for less
politeness and civility while I'm looking for more, and you haven't
shown any interest in making video poker relevant contributions.

I'm not sure why you even bothered responding to my post. It seems
very defensive of you. Linda asked me a question and I answered it --
on the proper forum, according to your rules. Your defensive
response is exactly the reason I don't post on VPFree -- minority
opinions don't seem welcome, and who needs this aggravation of a
sarcastic post from someone who supposedly doesnt like disruptions.

I never said you weren't aware of the difficulties of keeping the
forum polite and civil. I just continue to maintain that it's not
necessary. I feel that you're neurotic and are ruining the
experience with your constant interjections that were not an issue
under previous administration. Now this is were I assume VPFAE will
jump to your defense and say he never had the disruptions you had.
Maybe. But maybe he handled them better with a less is more
approach. I also surmise that the above may ALSO be a minority
opinion. SO be it. I did it in response to a borderline flame post
by someone who should be above such a thing, and did it on the
proper forum.

And why do you assume I care about your opinion about whether VPFree
is for me or not, especially since I dont know who you are.
Obviously I've decided the forum is for me, otherwise why would I
care enough to criticize the administrative practices. That is where
I can feel I can make the most contribution. There's very little
original VP content I can offer. I play plays that everyone already
knows about. Of the two regions I play in, one has a forum that is
not sponsored by you (ACVPP). The other has a board that gets about
10 posts a week (VP_Free New ENgland). The math stuff gets well
covered, my trips are uneventful, and I dont post about other issues
for the reasons stated above.

Please tell me you have better things to do then worry about a post
that wasn't directed to you (whoever you are) from someone in
Connecticut who does nothing but "criticize and complain about
administrative practices" anyway.

The Admin's posting below is a very curious reply, with lots of words.

I believe the gist is:

1. The admin is working very hard to keep vpfee polite and civil

2. Since you (Mark) are not Harry; Babe; or Dancer I don't need to be
polite with you, and can sarcastically say "missing your opinions,
our loss"

3. I no longer offer vacations, I just put anyone that posts anything
interesting on moderation e.g. paladin et al...Watch-Out Mickey Crimm
you've posted some great letters...you could be next.

4.The idea that people that post useful information are allowed more
latitude in their postings would make some sense, but alas even here
the admin has fallen down.

Perhaps, you're just on a very long learning curve.
