Someone go over my figures to be sure I haven't made a math error. For
Platinum $2 = 1 point. Takes $5000 through to earn 2500 points which is
worth $15 in credits (free play).
I received my first shopping card offer from the Venetian using the new
point system. Last year it required $125,000 to get a $1,500 card. New offer
requires 100,000 points or $250,000 (Gold card) in VP for the same $1,500
card. Doubling the pay requirement is a bit drastic. 
Of well, they have to
pay for those new casinos and additions somehow.
Your calculation on the Platinum free play is correct.
