The Two Questions Guy/First Big Royal!

<< Several weeks ago, I wrote an in email seeking answers for why I always seem to lose at video blackjack despite the fact that the right game is statistically just about even. I had several thoughtful answers and really appreciated them. After I thought this over, I realized that perhaps my betting scheme was probably at least partially to blame. Sometime in the past, I got into the habit of making larger bets when I was ahead and increased the size of the bets as I got further ahead. >>

Yep. You won't change the game EV by varying your bet size; but you can change the distribution and size of session wins and losses. For example, progressing your bets when winning (as you did) will yield frequent small losses and infrequent large wins (consider a reverse Martingale). If you came up short on large wins in your sample, your apparent EV will be smaller that the game EV!
