We are too, October 17-21.

I am optimistic about it though, Mike. Since we have never been there, we
don't have anything to compare it to.

Take heart and do not be depressed! If you are going to LV to have fun, you will!

As has been said by some of us, a large part of the "fun" is the "hunt" for "good plays". And,
after all, the room, food, and drinks are usually comp'ed. So, except for airfare, tips (and
gambling) there is usually no out of pocket expenses.

Again, enjoy!

I'll tell you how much the thrill is gone for me .. I did NOT take
my last 7Stars trip, just let it expire. Went to Vegas in February of
2007, and yes, I had some lovely meals and a beautiful suite, and the
Diamond Lounge at Paris had my favorite 25 year The MacCallen ...

But, even though I went to places that had "good" Video Poker, it
was just too much effort for the potential return.

I still go to my local Harrah's but when it comes down to it the
comps aren't worth the effort when the best available is 9/6 DB with
very low comp level.

We'll probably go to New Orleans in the next few months, enjoy the
room and meals at several of the fine restaurants where the comps
work, but there is something missing from the days where I used to
play 10/7 DB with a fast metered progressive and good comps even in
Illinois (much less Vegas) ...

I used to go and play Blackjack by the hour .. comps are really poor
there now and one has to look for odds that are decent. What used to
be fun has become work ... very sad all the way around.

Hard Rock Hotel has 25 cent pNSUD in the High Limit room.
There is one machine located on a bank of 8 slat tops.

There are many pNSUD in 25c and higher throughout the Hard
Rock Las Vegas. Same with 9/7 Double Bonus.

topic..

Don't be depressed. Your trip will be better than ever. With the
slowdown, you'll be able to get into restaurants, buffets and shows
without standing in lines for an hour+, rates are down, discounts and
coupons everywhere and lower rollers much more appreciated these days.

Mike,

I Started this thread. It wasn't meant to be depressing, at least for someone who is just getting their feet wet! Vegas is great. As already pointed out, cheap food, cheap/free rooms, lots of things to do - and free beer when you gamble. Heaven on Earth! But when you have been as often as me you start to remember the good old days, the bankroll slides on poorer plays, the comps tighten and before long the thrill may diminish a little. As with everything - moderation is the key. I'll saddle up a few times each year, but I was going as much as twice a month - from Spokane!

Watching my retirement accounts tank has done nothing to help with my enthusiasm either. I'm sure the new president will help though. sounds like we will never pay taxes again, and we will all have six figure incomes...(-; I'm heading down to order my Lexus right now, in fact!

Cheers!

Jigger
