The Revel AC

Greetings

The Revel announced in the Press Of Atlantic that it will be Smoke Free. Smart move I believe. It will rival the Borgata in class. It will get the disgruntled non smokers. It will get the curious and most important it will get ME.

How can it be a smart move when a significant number of gamblers are
smokers? I haven't been back to Atlantic City since they initiated the
smoking bans.

I believe that the gambling revenue significantly dropped in the Atlantic
City casinos that went totally smoke free.

The thing I believe is that all casinos will have to go smoke free before it could make a major difference. Yes, many gamblers do seem to like to smoke - however - poker rooms are certainly full and these days they are always nonsmoking. Players just go outside when they want to smoke. Or they play with an unlit cigarette hanging out of their mouth. But they still come to play poker.

I have to say I wish they would make casinos smoke free - no offense to those who enjoy their cigarettes in there, but everyone knows now how harmful it is and not just to those who are smoking. That's the part that surprises me, that things haven't changed for that reason.
But I do think nonsmoking casinos will lose smoking customers if there's a place they can go right down the street where they can smoke.

It will be interesting to see if the Revel can make it work.

How many businesses would gladly lose "only" 22% of their customers.

The point is that they would gain more than the 22% they "may" loose.

Would be really interesting to know if healthcare plans for employees were
significantly effected by a casino going smoke free.

How about how happy the other 78% are? I can't tell you how many times I have just walked out of a smoky casino because of rude smokers and poor ventilation. And frankly, for the most part, non-smokers have more money to spend. And time on task. And healthy days without upper respiratory infections. That's not even counting the employees who can breathe smoke-free air.

So what denomination do you play Jeri? Nickel or dimes? Maybe .25 and to
indicate that non-smokers have more money to play is absolutely ludicrous.
