The Orleans downgrades near completion

Only a small L-shaped area from the registration desk to in front
of the main cage remains where all video poker machines have not been
downgraded to sub-99% games. Tonight they were downgarding all
machines in the keno area.

Did I miss something? I saw a post some days ago speculating on Orleans
downgrades because a number of machines were "out of service". Now I
read that nearly all are sub 99%. Crap.

Don

I haven't been to the Orleans in awhile but do you mean sub 99.2% ?

I confirm vegasvpplayer's report.

Best game I saw in downgraded area was 98.9% Airport deuces.
BP was 7/5 and DB was 9/6.

Okay. Let's get down to brass tacks. Is it my understanding that 25c
10/7 DB is almost gone at the Orleans?

Yes. ALL denominations are being downgraded in the march. Even the
bank of 25c 10/7 Double Bonus with paytables on the faceplate glass
near the buffet were downgraded. They put a generic Game King
faceplate glass on the machines and display the new 9/6 paytable on the
screen.

Well, that is a darn shame. Like the end of an era. The Orleans was
always a favorite place, even before I moved to Las Vegas. To hear
about this destruction is quite disturbing. I have always enjoyed
playing at different casinos in the valley, but if it comes down to
just playing at the Rampart or Red Rock, then that is what it will be.

On our way to dinner, I stopped in to do the $25 free play for the wife and
I. A quick check of the slant tops across from the poker room revealed 9/6
DB, so I thought ok, no problem, I'll do it on the NSU bank one aisle over.
Uhh-Uhh, those are now 98.9 ducks. Didn't have much time for a complete
check as the wife was circling the parking lot waiting for me, but in the
five or six banks that I checked, no 10/7 DB or even NSU, all of the deuces
that I saw were of the above mentioned ugly variety. Looks like the
decimation is complete. However, earlier in the day I heard from a
completely reliable source that the triple play DB progressives opposite the
buffet are still 9/7. So it looks like they are certainly afraid of a
single line quarter player, so no 9/7 for them. However, you can get the
9/7 schedule on a multi line, and if ya get real lucky and hit a royal, it
will definitely be higher than the 1k flat top royal on the 9/6 game. Only
one thing that I would say to their genius slot director, "and you do this
for a livin', do ya?"

I went to the Orleans on Wednesday night just to see it all for
myself and it was not a pretty sight. Every 25c single line machine
that had 10/7/5 DB was now 9/6/5. Even the poor 5c DB player used to
get 9/7/5; now it is 8/5/4. That's right, 8/5/4 DB.

I played 4 machines with 25c 9/6 DDB and ended up hitting one set of
quads to break even. But I am not in any rush to go back. I can
understand Boyd's dilemma; no more Stardust revenue and no more
South Point revenue, so it appears Boyd witll nickle and dime its
existing properties until such point that Echelon actually gets
built. We know the Suncoast has already had some nicks; maybe 25c
9/7/5 DB will be "nudged" down to 9/6/5.
