The Origin Of VP Strategies

Howdy

Does anyone know a link where I can view how the strategies of VP were determined..for instance how many hands were played how many times by computer by whom ?

By "strategies" I assume you are referring to MaxEV strategy. That's
determined mathematically (specifically through probability), not by
computer simulation. It's pretty simple really, a 50% chance at $5 is
worth $2.50, a 10% chance at $100 is worth $10, etc. Add them all up
and you get the EV (Expected Value), the strategy that produces the
highest EV is the MaxEV strategy. A program like VPSM (Video Poker
Strategy Master) does all the math for you (though to simplify it
makes some approximations and like any software may contain some
programming errors).

Some info on strategies is here:

First, I would recommend that you forget for the time being that video poker
is a game that we play. The true essence is that all of the "hands" are just
a series of mathematical problems, nothing more. The "cards" that we are all
so familiar with are just an interesting way of displaying the math problem.
Instead of the cards, we could just as well choose thirteen different size
marble sets in four different colors, thirteen different coin sets from four
different countries, etc., it's still just a series of math problems. With
this mindset in place, here a few links that you can start with, from names
that you may already know as reliable.
