I finally got a chance to get down to GT to check out the new
GameMaker video poker machines in the Pick'Em Room. Forgetaboutthem!
I'm guessing that all the games on them are in the 96% to 97% pay
back range (including the low-pay Rip-Off Pick'Em) and unless you get
lucky...fast, will clean out your bankroll faster than it takes
Lindsey Lohan to go through a pitcher of Margaritas.
Although most of the vp players in casinos still make tons of
mistakes playing vp games, they are savvy enough to recognize low-
paying games when they see them. The days when you can just bolt down
any lousy paying vp machine and make money on it are long gone.
The machines themselves are kind of strange. Dark and foreboding
and the different game emblems look a little cheesy. On the Pick'Em
games (they have a Joker Pick'Em? game also)you have to touch the
screen to hold the card you want because it's too easy to make a
mistake with the buttons. (they are not side-by-side)
While I was there, I saw only one person playing them which tells
me that those machines are in trouble. Sometimes if the pay back is
low, it only takes a few vp ignorant players playing occasionally to
to make them profitable. I have this feeling that "Da Slot Guy" will
have a decision to make on whether to pull them out, change the pay
scales, or change all the machines to this type in the place and take
the chance of losing his vp player base in this town.
I'm betting that he will have to offer more and not less, what
with the new "spruced-up" casinos in town all competing for the video
poker dollar.
Good luck Slot Guy.

win some of their precious money. And you know what...they should be."
