The Monorail, Biggest waste of money since the Alaskan highway to nowhere

Actually, it is only less than a taxi fare even for the out-of-towners if
they are not people traveling alone. Did these math wizards not learn how to
solve real life "word problems"? Also, we usually rent a car and usually
find a bargain for $18-25/day, which gives us a much greater range of travel.

Let's see: $40x2 for 3 day pass = $80 $25x3days rent car = $75
Yes, you'll have to pay for part of a tank of gas, but you get to go to
Arizona Charlie's, The Palms, and the outlet mall near downtown. No contest.

Well, during my last trip in Vegas I took the monorail, buses and
taxis. Without a doubt the monorail was by far the most pleasant.
Taxis were generally filthy, their drivers unpleasant, and we couldn't
find a taxi to come pick us up off-strip, even if we said we'd pay the
fare both way. Bus schedules were a joke. Extend the monorail to the
airport and/or downtown and I'll be far more likely to fly to Vegas
again.

There is a better value, the CAT 24' pass, $5 for unlimited riding, no fuel to buy, no valet parking attendants to tip, no searching for parking places, and yes they do go to all the casinos -see p 183 of the guide for non strip casinos, cost 25 cents from driver.

Thank you for slamming Alaska in your subject line on a topic you have no clue what you are talking about. To begin with, it was not a road but a bridge, and it is going to be built. If you believe all the lies in the media and congress about the project, then I understand why you think it goes nowhere. I have been on a lot of roads in Neveada that do the same.

The following link describes the number of people the bridge would
serve---so it's not a bridge to nowhere, but a bridge that most of us
would think is not necessary and outrageously expensive. (For
everyone, see how your state does in getting back money for every
dollar you pay in federal gas taxes.)

The solution is simple. If you want a bridge, make it a toll bridge and have it pay for itself. It is time to stop subsidizing the worst energy wasting and polluting item ever created, the automobile. I agree, there are other wasteful projects. If you build a bridge that you want, be willing to pay for it.
