The afternoon Sun became a daily section of the morning
LVRJ on Sunday 2 OCT and primarily does columns,
editorials and feature stories now. No advertisements and
no business section.
The liberal Sun is supposedly still an independent paper but
it's circulation was only about 10% (23,000 vs 225,000) of
the conservative LVRJ and it seems that this retrenchment
was necessary to keep the Sun alive. The LVRJ had been
doing the printing, circulations and classifieds for both papers
for 15 years.
