Interesting article. Note that the next-to-last paragraph mentions
that there has been nothing in the press about whether Greedtown had
removed the "high-payoff" machines. But they DID! About 10 days
ago, my personal inspection showed that every last 9/6 JoB had been
downgraded to 8/5, thusly removing the only remotely playable VP in
the joint. Nice job of "spin" on the truth, eh?
It's not spin, it's out and out deceit if the writer knows this to be
true. I'd strongly suggest you send the paper (plus any alternative
papers in the area, which eat this stuff up) a letter detailing your
discovery.

For what it's worth...based on his e-mail reply to me, I believe that
the author lives in Lansing and is not really familiar with video
poker, let alone what has happened to the inventory of machines. He
was probably responding to the fact that Greektown's claims in
previous stories of the barrings allowing them to keep their high
paying machines had not been refuted in the newspaper.

This idiot states :

In the middle of the article, the author makes this statement:
"They paint a picture of a conspiratorial mindset on the part of
casino operators to make sure that people don't win. Anyone
sophisticated enough to be reading this column knows that all such
talk is hogwash."
NO, this statement is hogwash and the author clearly doesn't know
what he is talking about. I know personally at least 20 or more
people who have been backed off or barred from casinos simply because
they have the knowledge and skill to actually win - legally. Most of
them for card counting, one or two for VP play. As for
the "conspiratorial mindset" he dismisses, obviously the author has
never heard of the Griffin Detective Agency, Facial Recognition
Systems, card tracking software, Counter Catchers in Atlantic City,
informal fax networks between casinos, continuous shuffling machines,
and on and on and on.
