I attribute this to only peeing in the #6 Urinal this trip. Previous

I've usually been superstitious and peed in the #3 or #5 Urinal after the old
3-5 joke. Well guys, it didn't work. The secret to winning at Video Poker
is to only pee in the 6th urinal. If it didn't have 6, I held it and found
another one.

Without knowing the specifics, it was probably a 10-coin max-bet (instead of the usual 5-coin).
I've noticed an increasing number of low stakes and bartop machines having 10 coins as their max-bet (some where the Royal bonus is still given at 5 coins and some where you have do do 10).
This can be a good thing from time to time. A few years ago, after not being able to play at the bank of 9/6 jacks that used to be outside Exhibition at Harrah's AC (and getting a very hostile response when I asked a couple who were taking up 3 of those machines if they were using all 3), I decided to get a drink at the bar and play. The bartops were 10-coin maxbet, so I wasn't happy about it but I wasn't going to risk betting less either. About 15 minutes into the session I hit my first ever Royal. I figured it was Karma.
