the Cromwell

Does anyone know what is in the structure on the left side of the Cromwell as you face it? It seems odd this is a separate part. If it is parking, isn't there still parking within the main body of the Cromwell on floors 2-3 or so? When we were there recently I was told there is valet parking only. If so, what is that parking garage behind the Cromwell on Flamingo, which now has "entrance" signs leading inside (but you can only enter if you are driving on Flamingo from the east, not from Las Vegas Blvd).

Trying to park in the valet from Linq Ave (formerly Audrey) is confusing, with do not enter signs.

I'm confused.

We couldn’t figure out if/where Cromwell parking was for guests. All we could find was valet along the side on Flamingo.

So we wandered over to the rear entrance of the Flamingo property to try out their garage

The entrance to the garage was blocked by a sign saying the lot was full

No employees were around, and we drove in

There were several scattered spaces, mostly on the top deck with the sun beating down on the cars

The elevator to get to the ground floor was an adventure in itself. It stopped at each floor and we were packed in like sardines.

Once we got to 3rd floor, there was no more room in the elevator.

It was herky jerky and we started to discuss taking bets if we would make it to the bottom without incident.

We were there last week, but used valet so I don’t know about public parking there, except that we talked quite a while with the guy at the valet desk. He did say they were so short on valet parking space that they were using the public parking garage now. I’m not sure if he meant they took over the entire garage or just the first floor. My impression was that he meant only partial and that there was still some public parking in the garage. He said the day/night club is so popular parking is horrible there. He said they get 4,000 patrons there and they only have parking for 1,000 cars, so you can imagine what a stress that puts on the parking situation at the Cromwell.

I found the Cromwell as a gambling joint hadn’t changed much from Barbary/Bills days. High Limit was about 4 VP and 4 slot machines (all $1 5 coin), so that is quite a joke. Hotel check-in and the restaurant looked to be nicely remodeled.

One odd tidbit, while there I walked next door to the Flamingo to get a bunch of cards with my picture on the back of them (eliminates having to always pull out your drivers license). To my sorrow, they said their new system no longer works with the picture software, so they no longer can print cards with your picture on them. Flamingo was the last CET property in LV that could do that for the past few years.
