There’s been no indication that the player saw any “excessive” play win displayed. The error appears to be limited to an erroneous display of the cash out ticket amount.
If someone withdraws $50 from an ATM but receives a receipt showing the withdrawal amount as $50 million, yet all other receipt details were accurate (including ending account balance), I’m hard pressed to think anyone could make a convincing case that the customer was due the full $50 mil.
If I grasp the situation correctly, the credit meter never reflected the amount displayed on the screen for the erroneous cashout. I see this analogous to the ATM example and find the casino’s offer reasonable.
