Bruce: Are you generally supposed to tip when you win a hand-paid jackpot?
Me: It depends on who you ask. If you search the previous messages, you
will see many posts on the subject of tipping and everyone has their own
opinions on the subject. You should do what makes you feel good, not what
other people think you should do.
Bruce: One of them looked at me like "Whoa, why are you giving me money?"
Me: I will bet the look was really "Whoa, why are you giving me so little
money?" Greedy bastards. If I ever got that look, it would be the last tip
they'd ever see from me.
Bruce: Why should we give the attendants a percentage of our win for doing
their job....
Me: You shouldn't. Let them get higher-paying jobs, if they want more money.
But, on the other hand....you probably tip other employees who are just
"doing their job." Again, it a personal choice. There is no right or
wrong.
Bruce: If you WANT to tip, I say fine. But we should not be under any
pressure to do so.
Me: We aren't.
Bruce: When I won the $7,040 Progressive Royal at Wynn last year, it was
such a good win that I felt obligated so I tipped them the last $20.
Me: You should not tip because you feel obligated or because you feel that
you are supposed to. You should tip because you are generous or
appreciative.

When I won my second quarter Royal in Atlantic City, I tipped each of the
two attendants $10 each.
One of them looked at me like "Whoa, why are you giving me money?"
Personally, I believe that tipping has gotten way out of hand. Tipping at
the fast food counter is where I draw the line. I refuse to tip at Burger
King when I pick up my burger.
I always tip the waitress a buck when she brings my drink at the casino
but why should we give the attendants a percentage of our win for doing
their job- especially on a negative outcome game?
If you WANT to tip, I say fine. But we should not be under any pressure to
do so.
I'll admit that when I won the $7,040 Progressive Royal at Wynn last year,
it was such a good win that I felt obligated so I tipped them the last $20
they laid in my hand- but NO WAY would I give them $100 for bringing my
money. Those Jackpots are just too few and far between.
Any comments?
