Jack, you are absolutely right. I was waiting for someone to point out that
I was one of the 3. I was on that bank at 7am all by myself playing one
machine. Then a pro came up and started playing 2 machines. Then a second
one came up and started playing two machines. That's when I said to one of
them as long as they want to kill this I might as well play two while I can.
(I didn't really imagine it was going to die overnight, though!) When I
noticed you waiting for a machine is when I moved over to just one. I would
have gladly given it up if you had asked, also. I honestly feel bad that I
think I might have been part of what killed that bank. It was the first time
I played two machines there. (Of course it could have been scheduled all
along since there is a new slot director but I guess we'll never know. The
fact that a tech was walking around taking notes leads me to believe our
play might have hastened its' demise.)
I only know of a handful of pros that play two machines any time they can.
Their attitude of only thinking of the short term for themselves will just
continue to lead to the early demise of other good opportunities. And that
exacerbates the problem of aggressive play. When there are already pros
playing so aggressively do you want to just lie back and let them burn it
out? Or do you also get in there and get what you can now because you know
it is not going to last? Unfortunately I don't see how this situation will
change.
Again, a public apology for any contribution I had to the demise of the
Texas 3-play.

i have a couple of reasons not to play in this sort of situation:
1. the casino might think you are part of this "team", or it might
lump you in the same boat, i.e. players to put on the short list,
meaning you might find yourself getting fewer or no promos in the
future or you might even get your card privileges pulled or you might
get 86'd
2. unless it's a progressive or low variance promotion, is it really
valuable to get the last few hours of play in? thing about it. the
benefits of general video poker come from playing a significant number
of hands, short term play (under a royal cycle) is generally at a loss
