South Tahoe Express ($40 RT) drops me at airport and the
Peppermill shuttle is waiing. I end up not getting rental car at all
this trip. Checking into the fun house called Peppermill is very
fast. I have my bread crumbs for navigation, sunscreen for the neon
and I don't look at the lying mirrors. I check out my suite and am
astounded. I had a nice suite at Harrahs Lake Tahoe but this one
erases all memory of that. Mirrored wet bar, seating for 16, thirty-
six feet of floor to ceiling windows, jacuzzi, double bath and
purple velveted king. Of course the little decorative lights are
everywhere. Glitz, you are a god.
The next stop is Passport club where I get my $225 free play and
I'm off. Ticket out my free play at $150 and head for The Cabaret as
though there were beacon on it. This is now my favorite bar. 9/6-
J/B-fifty cent with progressives on four of a kind, St flushes and
royals, great acoustiscs for the live music and the recorded. My
favorite machine welcomes me with a sigh knowing its in for a
workout. Six hrs later, two straight flushes, 10 to 12 quads later I
give it up for the steakhouse. Its really nice to be back. After the
Steak house I return for the live band but its straight C/W and I
really cant get into it so I absorb myself into the machine for
another four hrs.Next nights band is much better and I am able to
get into the rhythem of the music and the buttons.
I am absolutely convinced that I will Royal at this bar. The
progressive is up to $2700 and I know its greedy little mois. During
my stay I spend 30-40 hrs chasing it. I have 4 st. flushes, two to
the K one dealt and many, many legit opportunities to hit but its
like an elusive butterfly. Twas not to be. I also discover the
Fireside Lounge this trip where I play a lot of $1 VP, enjoy real
drinks and eat a couple jars of those special fat almonds whose name
escapes me. I try Romanza, the Italian Restaurant and return to the
steakhouse twice. Everything was good.
The two small complaints I have about Peppermill are the comp
system. You can't bank or accumulate points and the crap tables are
not 3x4x5x odds, just double odd until you hit the $25 level. Even
tho there was a $2 or $3 minimum most of Sat. there was no game.It
was dead until later at night. It was OK by me just more time for the
Cabaret.Even tho I would prefer a comp system where you get cash
back or you can bank your points the system they use is very
generous with free play and money drawings and promotions constantly
going on. Twice I won $73 on Mr. moneys challenge......
