Taxis and tipping

The tunnel can be a great way to go if you have a rental car. The tunnel can be quite a bit faster, depending on where you are going and when, but it is in most cases the longer way to go. If you ara a taxi driver taking somebody midway down the strip, you make more money in 2 ways.
1. The trip may be faster saving you time.
2. the trip is longer making you more money.

If you use the tunnel to get to I-15 you can sometimes be a big loser because sometimes the traffic on I-15 can be a total case of backed up disaster. Nothing more fun than sitting in a cab not moving and watching the meter tick away.

As a frequent visitor to Vegas who always rents a car. I do the following.
I use the tunnel when going to Henderson, Boulder Strip, South Las Vegas destinations and Downtown. I don't use the tunnel if I am going to most strip hotels .

Can somebody explain the tunnel issue a little bit? I normally rent a car and it seems to me I always end up taking the tunnel. If there's a better way to go I'd appreciate knowing about it.

Thanks

Mike

I would think twice about taking the tunnel to the Boulder Strip. A better alternative would be to go down Tropicana and turn left onto Nellis. Taking the tunnel to the Boulder Strip would add at least 5-6 miles extra.

I'm either confused or misremembering how the tunnel, 215, and 15 are configured. If one picks up a rental car at the Rental Center, how does the tunnel come into play if one is going to South LV, Henderson, or the Boulder strip? And going downtown? The only reason to use the tunnel would be to avoid 15 and go via Swenson/Paradise, right?

Maybe I need a GPS more than I've been willing to admit.

Thanks to Albert and everyone else who responded to my question.
