Not surprising. The human brain is a fastastic pattern recognition
machine. We have evolved this capability in order to increase
survivability (just like the rest of evolution). Recognizing friend vs
foe ... good food vs poison ... dangerous animals vs. easy food, etc.
etc.

However, this does not make it all that great at logic or understanding
when not to apply pattern recognition. Just this week a non-expert VP
friend of mine was commenting how she knew a jackpot was coming when
she saw lots of 9s.
