Talk about variance

I know it is not nice to brag, but last night was so much fun and
quite an example of friendly variance. Playing NSUD (all we have
available around here) on a $ 0.25 TITO machine, I put in a twenty
dollar bill. I started right out hitting several wild royals and
etc. and soon had my total credits up to over %60. Then I hit the
ducks bringing my on screen total to over $300. I continued to play
and held my own for a while then the total started going down. It
got down to around $150 then it started back up again. At about
$250 I hit the royal for $1000 for a total credit showing of over
$1250. Having never hit a royal on a TITO machine, I did not know
what to expect. Having heard the horror stories of confusion
regarding the $1200 payout for the W2G for a single hit versus the
total on the machine, I was not about to cash out yet.

My memory is a little weak here, as I am not sure what happened
next. All I know is I hit the deal button and the machine printed
out a ticket for $1000, leaving me with over $250 credit showing.
I would guess at this point I had played about 2000 hands. I
continued to play and my total went down to about $150 again. It
then went back up into the mid 200's and started back down again.

Finally my wife came over and had run out of money playing video
poker also. So I cashed out the machine, having played 2,424 hands
in two hours and forty five minutes, I cashed out exactly $150.
So, If I have not told this story plainly, it is summarized as
follows.

Put in one twenty dollar bill on quarter NSUD
Played 2,424 hands in 2 hours 45 minutes
Took home $1,130 gain

Thank you variance!
