We are often are own worst enemies when we rock the boat by
exploiting good opportunities which lead to the demise of the
productive games we love to play. We are much better off not being
greedy and practicing quiet discretion while accepting small
victories in battles, which ultimately win the war. Being low key
and quiet is often the how we remain productive in the video poker
game.
But these are desperate times that call for desperate measures. We
were forced into this situation when the SUNCOAST declared all out
war on 100% return video poker this week. We cannot be too loud or
too strong in our protest of this situation. Anything less than a
100% boycott of the SUNCOAST and its associated properties (bowling
alley, movie theater, restaurants) is unacceptable if we want full
video poker to survive the year. Make a special trip this weekend to
take your cash back and leave your slot card at Club Denaro. Get the
word out to your neighbors and friends who aren't as informed. Let
them know they can't win playing the NSUD and that the 10/7 DB will
soon disappear if they continue to play at the SUNCOAST.
Today I sent an email to Donna Sinclair canceling a four-day
reservation (comped up front) in February. I thanked her for the
room comps I received last year but informed her I would not stay or
play at any property that did not provide FPDW. The SUNCOAST made
money a profit from my family and me last year. I played dice and
used the sports book, which resulted in losses for me and gains for
the SC. Other family members played short pay games and even slots
on a regular basis. We ran through an average of $10,000 a day coin-
in during our five trips of 4 days or more. SC is a great property
but so are the Hardrock and the Rio and I won't stay or play at
either for the same reason.
We (players) are wrong to take advantage of giveaways and double
points to the point of endangering those promotions. But we have
done nothing to cause the demise of all FPDW at the SUNCOAST. This
is simply a case of casino greed. If the SUNCOAST wins, then all
FPVP will be a memory. If the players win, SUNCOAST will come to us
with hat in hand, begging for out return. The outcome is completely
in the player's hands. With a significant drop in action, the
SUNCOAST will relent. The profits will tumble. Our fate is in our
own hands. Do nothing and soon there will be nothing good to play
not only in Summerlin but in all of Las Vegas. This is the most
serious threat to full pay video poker in history. Do whatever it
takes (legally) to send the strongest of messages that players will
not tolerate this kind of assault on full pay video poker. This is
not a time for silence. This is a time for action. Not only must
the SUNCOAST profits decline, competitor's profits must increase to
insure this won't happen in the very near future at another property.
