My wife & I are taking advantage of an offer of a Tahoe junket the
middle of
Jan. We would appreciate some guidance about Tahoe.
We will be staying at Harveys and need to know what other casinos
are within
walking distance. We know that Harrahs is connected by tunnel and
that Bills
is across the street from one of them. Are there other casinos
nearby? And is
it practical to walk or take a shuttle to the Heavenly ski area?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Five of the six casinos at Stateline are within easy walking
distance of each other. The sixth, the Lakeside, is about a ten
minute walk away.
There is a gondola lift that takes you directly up to Heavenly from
the Grand Marriott Plaza/shopping center immediately south of the
casino area on the east side of Hwy 50 (Lake Tahoe Blvd). I don't
know the cost, but I think you can ride it free if you purchase a
lift ticket at the same time.
There are also several ski shuttles that leave from the major
casino/hotels. Heavenly operates four routes that visit all the
major hotels in South Tahoe/Stateline; they run at 20/30 minute
intervals.
You can't walk to the Heavenly base area from the lakeshore, and
driving your rental car is a bad idea because there won't be any
parking after 8:30.
BTW, The American River cafe in Harrah's is the best casino
restaurant in terms of quality and value IMHO. Eat at Harvey's at
your own risk.
Have fun! I understand the snow is excellent this year.
