Super Triple Play Poker

This IGT game was discussed in the August Strictly Slots magazine. The
game doubles the usual jackpot for all quad hands, and the Straight
Flush goes from 250 to 700 coins, provided a 6th coin is played. Has
this game already been evaluated? If so, how is our VP software
tweaked to factor in the 6th coin?

Put in the values as shown on the VP game and divide the final result by
1.2. This also works for "Wheel Poker" if you add 428 to the five coin
value for each quad. 428 is the average value of a wheel spin in that
game. "Five Card's" paytables had an error in the Super DDB game but
that might have been fixed. At the Majestic Star (Gary IN) the best game
is 7-5 Super Aces which is at 99.02%. (This is the only game missing
from Five Card's paytables.) Most of the games are slightly better than
the normal game.

Thanks for the suggestion. Using 9/6 DDB (EV=98.98 and V=41.98), the
EV of the "Super" game is 118.9336% and, dividing by 1.2, gives a true
EV of 99.11% and V=118.25. So the EV rose slightly, as you said, while
the variance nearly tripled.

In the article I read, these are 3, 5, and 10 play machines. The
article also listed 22 states where the games can be found, and the
list included WA (Washington), where true VP is illegal. This must
have been a typo.

For those who don't know (or needed a refresher like myself), "5-
card"'s website is videopokerhelp.net, listed in the vpFREE links.
His "Super Triple Play" page shows the EV for various paytables for
each game. The best paytables he has listed are: 9/5/120 SDDB
(99.80%), 10/6 Bdlx (99.77%), and 11/6/60 JoB (99.75%).

Scouting one local casino (GVR) showed much poorer versions: 7/5/120
SDDB (99.05%) and 9/6 Bdlx (99.07%); JoB wasn't available. Other
games available were 9/5/150 BP (98.38%), 9/6/60 DB (98.36%), 9/6/140
DDB (99.16%), which was the best game they offer.

We now have two games that would have the same acronym, STP: Super
Times Pay and Super Triple Play. Since Super Times Pay has been
around awhile, it should retain the STP acronym. I have a suggestion:
perhaps Super Triple Play could be referred to as S3P, and Super
Times Pay could also be referred to as SxP, to avoid ambiguity.

A few of the Super Triple Play games were added to "vpFREE VP Pay Tables"
<http://members.cox.net/vpfree/PayV.htm> several days ago with "S3P"
as their acronym. Super Times Pay continues to use "STP" as an acronym.
