Super Double Double Bonus Poker question

I will admit that I am dumb enough to play VP at Harrah's because it is
closest to where I live. I know they have short pay VP pay tables which
is stupid to play but I just like to play. Out of the games they have I
love to play Super Double Double Bonus Poker because compared to the
other bad pay tables this one I can live with especially if I get some
bonus hands quickly in the short term. The pay table is 6/5. Knowing
that I only get 6 for 1 on a Full house...if I had a hand with a pair
of Jacks and a pair of 5's and a 6 as the fifth card would it be better
to throw away the 6 and the pair of 5's and go for the 4 of a kind
(possible bonus hand) on this game or does the same strategy apply as
if I were playing an 8/5 Super Double Double Bonus and keep both pairs
and go for the full house?

Any thoughts out there would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tchic115

Most Harrahs casinos offer 7/5 Bonus which isn't great but returns
more than this version of SDDB long-term. If you aren't hitting
those "special" SDDB hands and aren't paid 2 for the two pair your
finances can be depleted quickly.

But as for your question your instincts are already telling you that
6 for a full house is paying you back poorly in relation to the good
payout potential of four J,Q or K with a kicker.

So, yes, the math says you hold only the high pair.

One other quirk of this game, regardless of the full house payout, is
holding the kicker dealt with 3 jacks, queens or kings.

You might think having two chances instead of one to draw the four-of-
a-kind would benefit you. But the jump in payout from 250 to 800
makes holding the kicker a better play. You'll just have to ride out
a lot of frustration with the many times you won't draw that other
card to give you the four-of-a-kind. But when you finally hit it
you'll be glad you made the mathematically correct play.

I myself play crap machines all the time. I like to play video
poker, I do not live near a casino, so when I go, I will play any
game I like. It sounds like you do also, so do not apologize for
playing a Harrahs. I would keep the pair of Jacks

Thanks for the great insight...You made some great points, I had

one of those bad streaks with out bonus hands the last 3 times out
and it has devoured most of my bankroll....Great point about the
kicker, I never considered keeping the kicker because I have been
ingrained with always giving myself 2 chances at the 4 of a kind!

I only mentioned kickers because traditional DDB is so popular and you never hold one in that game.

But most TDB players are accustomed to holding the kicker with 3 aces or 2s, 3s or 4s. And I've had lots of experience not drawing that other card to get the four-of-a-kind
so I know frustration.

So, in SDDB hold that kicker next time with J's, Q's or K's. Got that 800 last trip and it feels good.

is holding that kicker in TDB the right play? I know that in Deuces Wild Bonus and Double Bonus Decues wild it is correct the hold the A with 22,222,2222 as except with 2222 where you get the 2222A jackpot you also better your chance on the nice 5K payout of 5 Aces.
