It wa sa turkey of a game...and while the Seahawks got robbed, they
still could have done more to win it. I just don't think Hasselbeck is
the guy who can get it done-too many bad throws under pressure.

Agree. It looked more like a preseason fiasco. I didn't care who won
until the refs kept giving Pittsburg all the calls.

Let's see, he didn't drop all those passes, he didn't commit the key
penalties, he wasn't on the field for any of the Pittsburg touchdowns,
not to mention Roethlisberger played even worse and did win.

The story of the game was mistakes by Seattle and big plays by Pitt.
But it was the officiating that doomed Seattle. It got so bad (IMO)
that if the Hasselbeck "fumble" had not been reversed, I'd have been
convinced the "fix was in."
The league should be very concerned about the officials' poor
performance in the Super Bowl AND the playoffs.
I hope Steve hedged his bet ... otherwise he's got to be especially
disappointed.

Yes, the low hit penalty on Hasselback was bad. The "Michael Irvin" rule call on the catch in the endzone was valid however. Seattle could have turned the tide if:
- their punter (punted from their 40 yd line forward) would have pooch punted any one of the two/three punts in the first half rather than kick it in the end zone every time.
- Stevens would have caught the 2 plus passes he dropped.
- given the ball to Alexander more (he averaged close to 5 yds per carry)
- managed the clock better.
As a reverse, would everyone still gripe about officiating if Rothelsberger hadn't thrown the 2 interceptions (probably cost Pgh at least 10 points)?

Speaking of sportsbetting, I discussed the betting with staff at the
Rampart sportsbook today. They told me most people bet Seattle,
regardless of what you might read. They also said they had a 6+
figure win. That surprised me.
As a Washingtonian, I was very disappointed. Many of the big
plays by the Seahawks were nulified by questionable calls. Even the
announcers said so. It's time for professional referees, at least
during the playoffs.
I also thought the "coronation" at the end was sickening. And when is
the Rolling Stones guitarist going to learn to play? You'd think
after 50+ years of practice he'd learn.
Other than that, I enjoyed the game.
