As promised, here's a description of the suite that Tom and I stayed in at
the River Palms on Monday and Tuesday night this week.
We were in room 2518, which the desk clerk told me was a "Master Suite". It
was the size of three standard rooms (Tom paced it off and estimated between
1200 and 1300 sq ft.) We had a river view. The room was decorated "jungle
style"...leopard carpet, leopard bedspread, African safari type furniture,
plantation shutters, etc. There was a wet bar, refrigerator, and coffee maker right
off the entry. The living/dining room had a glass top dining room table that
seated four, a buffet, a sofa, large coffee table, three occasional chairs,
and TV.
The bedroom (separate room with connecting door) had a king size bed, couch
and TV cabinet. Also part of the room was a two-person whirpool (black), a
dressing table, two sinks, large shower room (could put five people in there),
separate toilet room and closet. There were bars of soap, shampoo in bottles
and hand lotion in bottles, and a hair dryer (compared to their standard rooms
which have all items in dispensers and no hair dryers.)
We were very pleased with the room, but can't understand why they still put
plastic cups on the bathroom counter and foam cups with the coffee maker.
Also, towels were standard RP skimpy and mattress was extremely hard. But, for
free -- we couldn't complain!
Didn't have any luck gambling. Did hit four deuces a couple times, but not
enough to make up for the losing sessions.
We'll be up at RP again May 12-13. Talked about going up for the drawing on
May 9, but decided that we'd pass on this one.
Also received our regular RP mailers for May. No changes. A day later, also
received post cards that offer two free nights at the Horizon Casino Resort
in Lake Tahoe and at the Casuarina Casino in Las Vegas. These casinos are also
owned by the new owners of the RP.
