I would like to see some or all of the following incorporated in
the next generation ov vp training software:
1. Include various Multistrike Poker games;
That depends on intellectual property rights, such as copyrights or
patents. If I'm not mistaken LED has the rights to the Multistrike
Poker idea.
2. Enable the program to solve for an ev of 100% with one
variable, (i.e. return for RF) to evaluate progressives and when
they are playable;
You can do this manually in the interim -- a lot of pro's use a
linear approximation technique to solve for any level of return, be
it 100%, 101% or 102%. One version of the technique is by
interpolating the contributing of the ev for that hand, and solve
for the difference to hit the desired ev. For example, at max coins
in 9/6 JOB, the royal flush contributes about 2.0% (to make the math
easier) or 0.25% per 100 coins for 1. To get to a return of 100%,
the royal flush meter needs to improve by about 200 for 1, i.e.
adding 2*0.25% to get to about 100%. Steve Jacobs pointed out, the
actual answer is 976 for 1. So for a 101% game, or 1.5% improvement
in the ev, the RF needs to improve by about 600 for 1 (the actual
answer is less).
3. Encorporate a training or test mode using known problem or
penalty card situations rather than merely using a small error
factor which includes obvious many hands;
That can be done based on how close the conflicts are in the
strategy. For example, in a non-progressive 9/6 JOB, deciding to
keep 4 card straight or a low pair is a very close conflict (in both
strategy and ev terms). In contrast, two pairs and 3 to the RF is
not a close conflict (in ev or strategy terms ) so it's easy to see
that 2 pairs is the correct choice.
4. Enable printing of strategy charts with varying physical
dimmensions and exactatude levels;
As an alternative; dump the strategy into a program like excel (I
rank it by two types of hands) and just edit it afterward using
color, different fonts, etc. I developed an algorithm that pretty
much creates the strategy I want after I ran TomSki's VPSM.
5. Program to show bankroll requirments for various games and
demoninations at certain ruin percentile levels rather than just
variance factor of game.
That's available right now at www.gamblingtools.net (the percentile
levels is not available per se, but you can create it manually). As
you know, the current convention is to use "units" and then
determine the actual bankroll after defining the "units" as dollars
or quarters.
6. Internet enable the program and have a tournament mode so that
players can can compete online based on speed and accuracy.
Why not go to an internet web site that has this feature?
