Subject: Paycheck Promotions

"There were individuals who were running 2 checks a day at Rampart.
There are several paycheck mills in town. A paycheck mill is company
that has a legitimate business and will sell checks to people so
they can run them at casinos. "
I take it from this an other posts that the paycheck had to be
from a recognizable company [in state?)My writing myself a
payroll check on my side business which I do some payroll
in wouldn't qualify for most paycheck promotions?
"It's a good way for a business to make some extra money. You charge
the video poker player $10 for each check. The player goes in with XYZ
company check. It's an actual check from an actual business. "
Surprised ANY company would do this.
   1. illegal to do payroll for anyone who is not your employee.
   2. Costly: either:withold as required or don't and risk costly
penalties or run it as a dummy operation away
from payroll and explain where you got the extra
income people gave you to cover these "checks"
+ $10 charge and risk not being able to write-off
the so called payroll checks because expenses
off illegal operations are no longer deductible.
Person doing it should pick up "paychecks " as wages.
In my case picking up income as self employment already
and my wife is bossing me around (SS 8 ing me) as far
as my gambling and VP play.(Lame but better than above)

Once a companies check is cleared through central credit almost all
casinos will accept it. If I own a small business with 1 or 2
employees and write checks out of petty cash as far as Rampart it
looks like pay check. They were cashing checks for almost any
minimum amount and issuing 4 of a kind coupons. It was pretty lax
there to my understanding. If someone owns a small business and is
willing to do this that's on them. I am only going by what I heard.
