Stuff for Thursday afternoon with 24th

Here I sit just hours away from the beginning of the "Sweet-Sixteen"
kicking in. Hope you all made a good bet or are still in contention
in the office pool.

The Edgewater has a free bracket pool for $1k in prize money. I got
kicked pretty good in the first weekend, but still have a chance to
get 7/8 right for this round, 4/4, 2/2 and the champ. Anyone else in
this pool?

Our group-friend Correna should soon be at the Laughlin Harrahs on a
Milwaukee connection for the weekend. Kick-em for us. Sorry (Tom
and Joan too) that my Illini will end the Cinderella story of Wis-
Milwaukee. Maybe they can cover, spread 9 1/2?

It appears that the Riverside-Casino West will do the same promotion
for the 2nd Anniversary April 1st. The first twenty royals get paid
double starting at midnight. It should take a couple of days since
the only playable games are now in the bartops. Even Illini Deuces
15/9 in quarters are a good bet.

Rick, anyone buy you a beer at the River's Edge?

Well, in a strange way, Rob Singer bought me a couple of beers. Using his
technique, I managed to get up early and left town after 24 hours a
winner. In years past, I would have pounded the machines over and over to
make certain that I could add points to my account. I'm much happier with
the money.

However, a few more beers would have been okay.

April 1st? I had to check myself to make sure this is not one of
those early April fools jokes... Nope, it is legit, and you can even
get free cake and champagne between 2 and 5 PM on Friday to celebrate
the double pay royal. As I remember last year, it took almost a week
to pay all 20 double play royals.

Illini Cinderella story? Illini Deuces paying double? Hmmm maybe we
