The analysis in a nutshell, was that the best games on the
progressive were 97%-97.5%, so the question was, given that you
could stomach the variance, would this be a positive expectation
play?
The calculation, that the dealt royal progressive bonus is worth
about 2%, seems to indicate that at the reported level of the
jackpot, it isn't worth it; it only brings the game up somewhat
above 99% (with by far the most likely result for any individual
player being a substantial loss).
Of course, opportunities to shoot for this kind of money while
fighting only a 1% (or less) house edge are relatively rare, so if
you have a few thousand bucks that are just idling away in your
office safe....
