Now that the NYNY inventory has been decimated we need a place to
play. What are the best places on the strip for $0.25 players?
LVH is still the exceptional near-strip alternative. Once the
monorail is operational, LVH becomes even more attractive. Check out
the vpFREE database for game offerings and details and review the
archive here for additional comments.
Hopefully new management won't mess with things too much. In any
case, I don't look for them to rock the boat upon taking the reins in
July until after the New Year. They're fools if they do. (Of course,
juding from their actions at their AC property, Resorts, they may lack
some common sense.)
If you do decide to give them a shot, I strongly advise coming in on a
clean trip of 2-5 nights, booking in on a casinor rate with a host.
Don't pop in this trip to give them some "introductory play". They
rate players on a 4 trip average and you do yourself a distinct
disfavor if you make the first visit far shorter than what your play
during stays will run. (I speak from personal experience
It's very easy to get a casino rate room comped after you've got your
play in. As little as $4K will get you a room comp. In fact, if you
check in with a host after your first day of play you may likely get
your comp status upgraded on the spot so that potentially food and
beverage is comped up front.
We like MSS downtown, but Audra really likes have some amenities,
mainly a pool to lay out at and a choice of decent eateries.
Ihate to admit it, but Harrah's was on our list of places to check
out. Any feedback on their mail offers?
Also any info on Caesars?
There are only a couple of strip properties where play "comps" as well
as NYNY and have decent game inventories as well. LVH is the prime one.
Caesars, of course, if an absolutely gorgeous property and is our fave
(I just wish the promo offers were as strong as others so that we were
inclined to stay there more often). However, a basic room comp
requires hefy play. Most info suggests a little over $20K is required
on their "good" vp. That can make it a tough comp situation for a
quarter player (don't know if you're including multiplay in that
description, but if so, Caesars has an exceptional inventory).
Bally's/Paris might be a stronger alternative, with a little under
$15K required for a room. However, good quarter plays are limited to
Jacks & pick'em (I'm relying on the vpFREE database for current info).
Sounds like Harrah's still offers up limited JB/BP at $.25. I don't
have any experience with the LV property. Rio might also be a
possibility, but I'd look to others for info.
This might be an excellent time to consider some of the locals. Some
offer decent amenities and with a stronger inventory of good plays can
provide a very satisfying stay.
