The strat has a great value if you look at the price. However, if you are planning on moving around a lot (coupon runs, sight seeing, remote dinners, etc.) parking can be a hassle. They have one of the slowest valets in town and the garage itself is confusing at times.
On the positive side, we have eaten at many of the "fine" restaurants and Top of the World is close to the best. The view is amazing and you should aim for reservations slightly before sunset. If you are a thrill seeker, the Big Shot is a great ride. If you don't have a slot card, their sign up is the best available. (Assuming they are still running the rebate on actionor something similar) My wife and I made a point of going just for the sign up and each got a check in the mail for $100 and 3 comped night each, both of which were good for a year.

I booked 3 nights online at the Stratosphere through
Vegas.com and the room they reserved for me was a king-bed "premier tower
room". What the heck does that mean? I went to the Stratosphere's website
and
looked at their room types and none was a "premier tower room".
Premier tower just means it's the newest section of the hotel, which had a
1,000-room extension built to the south maybe three years ago. Big bathrooms,
not luxurious but nice enough. Decor is really beige, though. I actually like
the middle section the best, but the premier part is more convenient to the
parking garage and valet, the coffee shop, and has 6 or 8 fast elevators. I think
the Strat's rooms, other than the original section, are the most underrated in
town.
