strategy?

thanks for the answers regarding Pickem.

next question: if I had a unique game that I need to generate a
strategy for, how would I go about doing this? it is not clear to me
that I can define a game in VPSM or FVP to the degree that I can in
WinPoker? thanks.

I don't know about VPSM, but have played with FVP quite a lot. It is
pretty flexible if you can find a closely related game. However,
there is no bonus version of Pickem, so you are stuck there.

In general, you probably have to attempt the work yourself, either by
writing your own code, borrowing some of the available source code, or
trying things by hand. This last option sounds terrible, but Bob
Dancer has given some very good examples of how to do this without a
horrendous effort (see the 4 to a royal example). You basically pick
a closely related strategy, then try to figure out what hands you
might get dealt that could give you a reason to change the strategy.
Then play with a few different alternatives and see if there is any
reason to change. If the games are closely related, changes will
probably be minimal...maybe giving up on a full house with three 7's
and going for the 7's, or keeping just a pair of 7's over 2 pair.

Is it similar to any available games? FVP is pretty flexible,
allowing you to specify bonuses, kickers, and sequential royals.

that is the answer I was looking for, thank you.

further to the PickEm strategy thread, I think I could resolve that in
excel pretty easily, I am thinking there aren't even any changes to
strategy.

I can think of at least one Pickem strategy change - pair sevens vs flush (2hc)

  (1) With 6H 9H AH 6C,
  69.A = 5.7668 while 69.6 = 5.7092

  (2) But, with sevens "hot", 7H 9H AH 7C,
  79.A = 5.7668 while 79.7 = 6.24113,

  making the "hot" pair preferable to the 3cd FL 2hc
