strategy tips/report from Vegas

I also own every software package mentioned below (and also several other
inferior products.) The first two mentioned below are from 1991 and
together are roughly the equivalent of Winpoker. (Alot clunkier interface
than the modern products, but if you have seen Grochowski's "Gaming",
chapter 58 was generated from Stanford Wong VP by me. (He cut out some of
the very close plays as this was a weekly newspaper column. Ex.My
explanation of A vs AK, AQ or AJ was very long and anybody who plays 10-7
DB well is aware how difficult that combination is.) My strategy was not
perfect (I missed the AHH+9 play for example). Thank goodness for VSPM. It
makes it alot easier to find the close plays. (Knowing what plays are close
makes it easy to go back to Winpoker or Frugal VP to check.) I am from the
Chicago Area and for many about eight years this was the best play in the
area. (Six of those years were with a progressive and I used Stanford
Wong's software to generate the indexes for that too. It was actually
easier than Winpoker 5. Winpoker 6 is better for that purpose.)

I completely agree.
I own Stanford Wong's VP Ananlyzer, his VP Exact, Panamint's VP Tutor,
Winpoker, Frugal video poker, Strategy Master and one more whose name
escapes me.

Each is excellent, each does things better than the others, etc.
Winpoker, Frugal and Strat Master are the three most important pieces
of VP software that I ever bought.

Just wanted to thank everyone for chipping in their two cents. I'll
definately be looking for the software and will pick up a copy of the
above mentioned when I can.

I did spend a bit of time on freeslots.com yesterday and had a great
time using trainer mode. I'd make my selection and then glance up to
the left to see if I made the right choice. Occasionally I'd get a
lesson when I found I did something wrong. Until I can squeeze some
dinero out of the wife (who just doesn't get into VP at all,
unfortunately) I'll probably use this.

I appreciate the wealth of valuable information I get from this group
and want to say "thanks" to everyone who responded. Hopefully I'll
have some good news to share after my June trip to the MGM :slight_smile:

I learned how to play vp in the mid 80's by reading

Lenny Frome's columns in the Card Player magazine, and copying
(and carrying with me to the casinos) his strategy charts.
I also bought Wong's VP Analyzer and practiced on that as well.
This had a very positive effect on my bankroll and subsequent
enjoyment of the game.

Prior to that I played AT vp, but was totally clueless about
correct stategy, played hunches by relying on my innate "card
sense", and frequently lost the part of my anatomy
that I need to sit on.

When BDWP 5 was born, I must have been the among the first to
purchase my copy. Once it was installed in both my laptop and
regular computer, I was completely hooked on playing it whenever
I could find the time. It has a been a boon to me, and has very
positively affected my vp play. I recommend BDWP wholeheartedly
to any current or wannabe vp player.

I don't personally own Jean Scott's Frugal VP, but I have heard
very similiar feedback on her trainer. In fact, several posters
have said that they prefer it to WP.

In any event, I think that anyone that risks their bankroll at
vp, w/o first practicing on the computer, with one or the other
of these programs, has a reckless disdain for their money.

Ha! IF you gotta squeeze forty bucks outta the wife for some software
you ain't NEVER gonna get a bankroll for vp! Good luck!
