strategy tips/report from Vegas

Hey everyone. I'm relatively new to the group and wondered if someone
could send me in the right direction. I've had two trips to Vegas and
am going back with some friends in June.

I'm a big fan of 9/6 JOB VP and have a "strategy card" for how to
play, but if I have a pair of jacks and a straight flush draw, do you
do the safe thing or go for something better? Is this kind of
strategy play written on the net someplace? I'm wanting to
play "perfect" video poker but I'm not sure I'm doing it... haha.

I won $400 on a game of 9/6 JOB at Caesar's on my last trip by hitting
four of a kind of threes and I'm not quite sure how I did it. I
played five play x $1 at 125 for four of a kind and for some reason it
gave me four hundred bucks. I noticed the screen image of the winning
amounts looked older than the rest so it might have been defective.
Go fig. I wasn't going to argue. I financed the rest of my trip on
those winnings and came home with the same amount of money I left with
after having paid for lunch for me and a friend at the Rainforest Cafe
and getting some souvenirs for the wife and kid. Oh, and I gambled
some more too - so I didn't lose anything :wink:

I went to Botany Bay, Bellagio, Aladdin (where I was staying) and
Paris, but none of them had stakes as good as Caesar's, so I wouldn't
waste time with them if you are in that walking distance. I hear
Caesars has been purchased by Harrah's so those odds might change
soon. I'm considering going to Terrible's just to play, and elsewhere
to shop and look around.

Thanks for listening to my ramble. If anyone knows any sites that
could lean me more toward perfect play (with options for a small win
versus a big draw) I'd really appreciate it.

Do you have a trainer prog. for the computer such as Frugal VP or
WinPoker? If not they are certainly worth the cost, and then you will
know how well you are really playing.

this sounds like Double Bonus or Double Double Bonus, they both pay
$400 ($1 game) for a 4oak in 2-4s. Sometimes the backglass doesnt
match the game or lots of machines are Multi Game (MG) and you pick
one game from the main menu.

wind up a loser, is to NOT purchase either Bob Dancer's Win
Poker or Jean Scott's Frugal VP. THey are both GREAT programs
for newbies and oldbies, as well.

I bought the 1st edition of BDWP immediately after it became
available, and then bought the 2nd edition when that became
available. On a personal level, it has helped my game and my
won/loss record, immensely.

As I recall, the cost was about $50.00, the best $50.00 I ever
spent!

Each of the tutorials costs a couple rolls of quarters. If you don't invest in one you will never become proficient enough to get ahead. You can ask away here, but without the software you are pretty much wasting your time trying to learn the game.
