Strategy card debate

The challenge in putting a dollar amount on the different plays is
in first putting the hands into categories and then in calculating
the frequency of occurrence. I'd guess that the information needed
is in VPSM, Winpoker , FVP and VPW but I don't think it is available
to the end user.

Johnny hits the point exactly. The "cost" of playing a particular
hand for less than the absolute maximum EV is not nearly as important
as its long-term cost. If a particular decision causes a 20-cent
error but only occurs once per 10,000 hands, its affect on long-term
expectation is insignificant. Most players will lose more due to
reduced speed and inadvertent deviations when trying to follow a
strategy with a lot of penalty situations.

Table 2 (page 164) of "Video Poker - Optimum Play" gives the
frequency of occurrence of each dealt hand type for Jacks or Better.
It takes a little more math, though, to figure out the frequency of
combinations; e.g., how often does a deal hand contain BOTH a J-10
suited AND 2-3-5 suited? Some examples of doing this will be found in
"Paymar vs. Dancer" on my web site.
